Hummingbird Agonism

My research explores how power and performance shape competition in hummingbirds, from the metabolic costs of fighting to the maneuvers and signals used to gain dominance. By integrating physiology, biomechanics, contest theory, field ecology, and evolutionary history, I aim to reveal how traits evolve to balance the demands of survival, reproduction, and social competition.
