Wow, this post has been a long time coming! I started this project as an undergraduate working with Dr. Don Powers, where I measured feeding rates of hummingbirds while eating dilute nectars. This started with four species, working at Southwestern Research Station in
2015. I continued working with some pretty charismatic species in Ecuador after that, such as this White-booted Racketttail (Ocreatus underwoodii).

I continued the project for many years, as I applied to graduate school and during the first few years of my PhD. I am now so pleased that it is published in Functional Ecology. You can read more about the paper on my Research Page. For now, I'm so grateful for everyone who mentored me over the duration of this project. I really learned to be a scientist from this; the progression from a physiology experiment to a modeling endeavor was really my sandbox of discovery!
